David Letterman thwarted Howard Stern’s send-off smooch on the Late Show!
David Letterman will soon be retiring from the Late Show and the stars are all finding their own original way to say goodbye to the host. Howard Stern is another celeb who wanted to send off Letterman with a smooch but was rejected.
On Monday Howard Stern made an appearance on the Late Show and called Letterman out for not having taken him to dinner since he will be retiring. Howard Stern the Sirius XM radio host asked Letterman why he was not invited on a dinner between Letterman and Don Rickles to celebrate the retirement.
Letterman playfully replied he doesn’t like Stern’s flashy costumes therefore he wasn’t given an invitation to the post show dinner. Howard Stern replied he dressed up for Letterman and then called Letterman to come close to him as it could be goodbye.
Stern asked Letterman if it will be the last time they will be together and started pulling Letterman towards him. Letterman seemed uncomfortable as he told Stern no and asked Stern what he is going to do as he tried to back away after having kissed Stern’s hand.
Stern then asked Letterman for a hug but soon tried to smack lips with Letterman. Letterman completely taken by surprise instantly objected to the lip lock and refused to embrace Howard Stern. Stern repeatedly asked Letterman to ‘Kiss Me’ but Letterman replied with solid ‘No’s. Letterman did his best trying not to crack up with laughter as he went to commercial.
The rejected kiss was not the only controversial point of the evening. After the commercial Howard Stern asked Letterman if he will be having Jay Leno on the Late Show next week as his last guest before the send-off. While he audience applauded Letterman asked the crowd not to applaud to that in a stoic expression while exhibiting sarcasm.
