Who will play Jean Grey and Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse?

Six stars are up for the race!

When we talk about the role of the young Cyclops there is Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothee Chalamet who are being considered to fill in. Moreover Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is also finding a young Jean Grey. For this purpose the names of Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning and the Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfield are being considered.

The 20th Century Fox had no comments in this regard. However an insider told The Wire that Moretz and Fanning have recently met with Singer as he started the search for young Jean Grey. Fanning is still unclear about this high profile role.

Although it is clear that Singer is aiming high for the role of young Jean while he seems more enthusiastic to cast a fresh face for the role of Cyclops. This on and off couple of Jean and Cyclops has been the emotional center of the X-Men since its first comic back in 1960. 

For five movies Famke Janssen has played the role of Jean Grey with Haley Ramm portraying Jean in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’. Cyclops who is also known as Scott Summers has been played by James Marsden in four films while in X-Men: Origins Wolverine’, Cyclops was played by Tim Pocock. 

According to producer Simon Kinberg ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will take the franchise of X-Men into a new direction and will cast younger people as Cyclops, Jean and even Storm. This movie will basically center its story on the romance between Magneto and Mystique.

This means this time Jennifer Lawrence who plays as Mystique and Michael Fassbender who will be Magneto, into the limelight. This is what the audience wants to see. The movie is scheduled to start its production in spring and is expected to release on /4/27th, 2016 in U.S while the UK will get to watch it on /4/19th. The previous movie from the franchise was ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, which grossed nearly $750 million worldwide for Fox. 

Talking about the nominees up for the roles, Moretz already has played Hit Girl in the ‘Kick-Ass’ movie but that cannot be compared to the scope of X-Men and the role of Jean. She is also filming her own franchise starter Sony’s ‘Fifth Wave’ which is based on the bestselling YA series by Rick Yancey.

On the other hand Hailee Steinfield is a much more renowned star who rose to fame from her portrayal of Mattie Ross in the film True Grit for which she was also nominated for an Academy Award and has recently won MaxMara ‘Face of the Future’ award. She is also at the moment working for The Horseman and Pitch Perfect 2. Fanning has worked for blockbusters such as Maleficent and Super 8.

Talking about the Cyclops’s nominees Timothee is currently engrossed in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’. He also appeared on the famous TV show ‘Homeland’. Hardy is famous for his role in ‘EastEnders’ who played as Peter Beale. Rowe on the other hand has starred in ‘Never Let Me Go’ and also the science fiction ‘The Golden Compass’.

Well whoever Singer choses for the roles of Jean and Cyclops he must make sure that the fans accept them in those roles. Good luck to all these young stars as this could be one of their biggest breakthroughs.
