Wi-Fi only Nexus 7 and 10 get Android 5.1.1 factory images

Nexus 10 is also reportedly receiving the 5.1.1 OTA update and other tablets will soon follow

The Wi-Fi only versions of the 2012 and 2013 editions of the Nexus 7, as well as for the Google Nexus 10 and Nexus Player can now enjoy Android 5.1.1’s factory image (LMY47V). You are in for a little disappointment if you were expecting to see some new features on the new point update. The Android 5.1.1 factory image merely brings along bug fixes and some improvements from the previous Lollipop version.

If you want the factory images, you can follow the link for more directions.

The Lollipop is making the same mistake as the iOS 8 which saw its adoption rate suffer due to frequent point updates which left us confused. Only a few days have gone by since the Nexus tablet line-up was updated to the new Android 5.1.0 Lollipop but looks like Google wasn’t satisfied and started to dig in Lollipop once more. Software updates still seem far from perfect from Google’s point of view and work is underway to perfect things for the Nexus tablets.

Those who are wondering, the Nexus 7 versions with mobile data radios are also some likely candidates for the factory images if we follow Google’s previous factory image release patterns.

Apart from this news, some reports are mentioning the Nexus 10 getting the 5.1.1 OTA update and if this is the case then other tablets will soon be in the line for their OTA update. Nexus 10 seems to be a good approach and it is highly a commendable step by Google which is focusing on a tablet released years ago.
