Windows 10 to hit your phones soon

This comes as part of an effort to unify the OS across larger and smaller devices

Microsoft seems to have done wits work well with Windows 10 which has received a lot of appreciation for changing back to the way it caters to the traditional PC users and also keeping up with newer requirements of the touch interfaces. Apart from adding new and exciting features, Microsoft is also unifying Windows 10 for large devices (8+ inch screens) as well as the smaller ones (phones and small tablets). This is highly going to benefit the developers who can think about creating apps which will work on all the platforms; a desktop, a phone and even Xbox.

A special version of Office which is still under development was demonstrated on a phone by Joe Belfiore and it is also going to work just fine on the desktop too. Windows 10 is welcoming back the Start button but the tile-based launcher is still there. In addition to this, there is a People app which is going to work across your device and aggregate your contacts. With this app you can quickly start a call or send a message.

The Outlook on Windows 10 is also receiving an upgrade and it is now going to feature Tinder-like swipe functionality – left for delete, right for flag. You will use Word for the composition of your emails. Word, Excel and PowerPoint are going to function fully well on the mobile devices just like the desktop counterparts; however, documents will be reflowed so they can fit on the smaller screens.

Another universal app is the Photos which comes with OneDrive integration and will let you sync photos from multiple devices, allowing you to view your entire collection from one single place. This app has the ability to handle duplicates and burst-shots to avoid clutter and automatically group photos in albums. So far it has been confirmed that Nokia Lumia 1520 will get the upgrade to Windows 10 (the same device was used to demo the OS).
