Windows 7 continues to grow steadily through this year
As it appears, the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are by far the least favorite OS platforms by Microsoft and their slower than usually adoption rate wasn’t quite shocking because we all know too well that the changes didn’t quite impress us or we didn’t find them too user friendly. However, things have been changing for both the versions with a relatively good run last month in which they managed to pass the 15 percent market share together. This fact is supported by the figures provided by Net Applications.
If we go into the details we’ll find that Windows 8 gained 0.29 percentage points to 5.88 percent while Windows 8.1 gained 4.25 percentage points to 10.92 percent so these versions combined together managed to get 16.80 percent of the market at the end of October, up from 12.26 percent at the end of September. This is undoubtedly quite impressive and a big jump for the two versions which weren’t so much appreciated by the customers. However, the time has finally come when the Windows 8.1 is finally in the double digits. But this shouldn’t make Microsoft so happy since the version has been out since a year and this progress spread over a period of 365 days isn’t so noteworthy.
Let’s clear one thing up here that this progress was in no way made at the expense of the Windows 7 which is still growing and has managed to up 0.34 points to 53.05 percent. It has so far been the most popular OS and has continued steadily to increase its share throughout this year.
