Nintendo partners with Universal Parks & Resorts to create World’s First-Ever Theme Park Attractions Based on Nintendo’s Mario and other famous Characters.
Nintendo continues to open up. Earlier this year the video game maker announced to bring its famous video game characters to smartphones. Today Nintendo announced that Universal Parks & Resorts plans to bring the world of Nintendo to life at Universal theme parks. Expect Mario rides and other Nintendo branded attraction.s
The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal’s theme parks and will feature Nintendo’s most famous characters and games. More details will be announced in the future, as the Nintendo and Universal creative teams work to create specific concepts.
This partnership marks a big change in the thinking of the Nintendo. So far its popular video game characters have only be allowed to be available on Nintendo hardware. Now Nintendo figured out that there is a huge opportunity in bringing Mario and the others to 3rd party platforms like the iPhone. Theme park attractions help market Nintendo’s excellent video games that is still unchallenged for younger kids.
Universal Parks & Resorts, a unit of Comcast NBCUniversal, owns theme parks including Universal Studios Hollywood, which includes Universal CityWalk Hollywood. It also owns Universal Orlando Resort a resort featuring two theme parks (Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure). Comcast NBCUniversal also has license agreements with Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, Japan and Universal Studios Singapore at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore. In addition, Comcast NBCUniversal has recently announced plans for a theme park in Beijing and an indoor theme park to be developed as part of the Galactica Park project in Moscow.
