Yahoo Japan today announced to buy Japanese wireless provider telco eAccess from Softbank for $3.2 billion.

Yahoo is going to acquire another firm. But this time it’s a local Japanese acquisition. Yahoo Japan has announced today that it is going to buy the Japanese mobile and broadband provider telco eAccess from its parent wireless provider Softbank in a deal worth $3.2 billion or 324 billion yen.

Yahoo Japan wants to broaden its services for tablets and smartphones with the help of this acquisition. Softbank has bought telco eAccess for $2.6 billion in October 2012.

Yahoo actually launched Yahoo Japan in partnership with Softbank. According to Reuters, Softbank holds 42.5 percent in Yahoo Japan. And Softbank stated in another statement that “it would book a special gain of 55.7 billion yen for the fiscal year ending March 2015.”
