AVOS Systems, a company formed by two co-founders of YouTube, sold the social bookmarking site Delicious to Science Inc. The amount of this acquisition is not yet disclosed. However, Science Inc. is not acquiring any workers.

The social bookmarking site titled Delicious has been owned and resold and then re-owned yet nothing came of it. It has been ten years since this has been going on. Finally, now it is being sold off once again.

This time an executive who once owned MySpace and now owns Science Inc., is about to snatch it up. Michael Jones is the name of the executive and he has made a dare that he can turn the fortunes of the startup around.

He is buying Delicious from a firm Avos Systems which is formed by Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, the co-founders of YouTube. Avos Systems bought Delicious from Yahoo in 2011. At that time, Yahoo was said to be considering shutting it down.

When Avos Systems first bought Delicious, the co-founders of YouTube states, “we were excited about the community and the technology and the fact that we would hopefully be able to provide some innovation there. To some extent we feel we have. But for us, it really came down to focus.”

Hurley had vowed that he would take the site to the next level but those words proved to be nothing but smoke and mirrors. It remains stuck in a rut. A deal has been reached between the founders of YouTube and Jones. The exact amount paid for Delicious has not been revealed.

Jones meanwhile has made a pact with himself that he will make this site prosper in the future. He is to keep most of the things and stuff on it as they are yet he will renovate it on the whole so that it attracts more traffic.

“They’ve got an immense amount of data and an incredible understanding of what is trending on the web,” Mr. Jones said in an interview. “At the end of the day, we think they serve this really unique community as a daily utility.”

The only major change he will be making is the removal of all the ads from the social service. The trending statistics and the keeping up with what is occurring on the World Wide Web are really important with reference to this site.

It is a wondrous facility that many people use on the Internet, and in the future it could prove to be even more of a valuable commodity. Delicious was formed in 2003, more than a decade ago and it got sold to Yahoo in 2005.

Mr. Hurley said the service, when he bought it, “hadn’t been touched for five years. We had to re-engineer and rebuild the entire site from the ground up.” While it doesn’t appear to hold much promise, maybe Jones /4/hold a few surprises up his sleeve.
