Stumbles came first
Did HealthKit Meet The Hype?
The HealthKit software was one of the most hyped aspects of iOS 8, especially since it will be such a major part of the Apple Watch when it is finally released in 2015. There is still plenty of time, which is good considering the problems that have been encountered so far.
Stumbles are often problems for initial Apple launches, although HealthKit had a particularly problematic one. They launched iOS 8 and then immediately pulled HealthKit Apps from the App Store. They then released the first update to iOS 8, although once again they ended up pulling it from the store. With the final release of 8.0.2, they have hopefully fixed all of the problems that they faced.
The problem is that this has essentially left developers starting over with their work. Everyone wants to be the first one to have the million dollar App that relies on HealthKit, but this puts a major bump in the plans of many. The initial Apps that were introduced were pulled and those that had been using them are now going to have to start over.
There is still no release date for the Apple Watch, but developers are now racing to create the kinds of Apps that will change the way that people view their health and the way that they track it. Stay tuned to find out what will happen once it gets closer to the official launch.
