Jennifer Lawrence to feature as Lynsey Addario, the photojournalist in her biographical movie that Warner Bros. recently bought the rights to.
Lynsey Addario has led an accomplished life. Having won the MacArthur Fellowship in 2008, she was part of the New York Times team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2009 for International Reporting for her work in Waziristan. She worked in Afghanistan during the post 9/11 invasion of Afghanistan.
Her work comprised of identifying the victims of conflict of the war. That included the Afghani victims in the Taliban regime. She also worked in Iraq during the Iraqi War, victims of genocide in Darfur and the rape of women in Congo. Her work also led to her being jailed in Libya by pro-Qaddafi forces during the Libyan civil war.
Her memoirs titled ‘It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love And War’ were auctioned where Lynsey personally met the bidders personally before the decision was made. It was a rare opportunity to score the chance to capture the life of a woman who had the courage to put her own life in danger in search of the truth.
So there were a lot of hopefuls to buy the rights to her memoirs which included Working Title Films with Reese Witherspoon attached; Darren Aronofsky with Natalie Portman attached; and The Weinstein Company with George Clooney and Grant Heslov involved with Margo Robbie starring.
All top contenders with strong Oscar nominated actresses but there was one actress who prevailed, an Oscar winner, young spirited girl whose work in action genre might have worked to her advantage. Its Jennifer Lawrence of course.
Warner Bros. succeeded in buying the rights for the movie. The team working on the movie has already been decided. Jennifer Lawrence would be playing Addario’s role while Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) would be producing the movie. Steven Spielberg has been signed on to direct the movie.
Jennifer is currently busy with shooting for the David O. Russell’s “Joy,” due to release around Christmas followed by ‘Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 2” in November. Steven Spielberg is busy with shooting a DreamWorks-Disney Cold War thriller starring Tom Hanks as attorney James Donovan. He will be later working on an adaptation of Roald Dahl children’s book “The BFG” for July, 2016.
They will take on ‘It’s What I Do’, the title would remain as New York Times had written it and has been decided to remain so for the movie. Wynn Wygal will oversee the movie at Lazar’s company while Racheline Benveniste and Julia Spiro will be overseeing on the behalf of the studio.
