The latest Avengers: Age of Ultron movie broke box office records while the film Hot Pursuit took a nosedive.
Avengers: Age of Ultron raked in a massive $77.2 million while Hot Pursuit simply tanked without any conspicuous success whatsoever. Directed by Disney Studios and based upon the Marvel comic books series, Avengers: Age of Ultron overreached the $300 million mark at home. It thus even overtook Avatar’s phenomenal money-making track record.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is definitely a leading act. And when you count the global influence of the film, the profits amassed shoot up to more than $875.3 million. And although the Far East is still to catch on to a serious viewing of this movie, seeing the trends, the point where it earns in excess of one billion dollars /4/be reached soon. This would place it in the league of such movies as Furious 7.
Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America sure put their best foot forward whe it came to portraying the superhero characters in this film. Meanwhile, Hot Pursuit flopped big time. It only managed to gather a measly $13.3 million which is peanuts. The producers had been expecting more than this, but as luck would have it, the film just couldn’t attract any audience members other than lukewarm hearts.
Hot Pursuit was more popular in the Southern States instead of the Eastern Coast. It got a C+ in the reviews which is pathetic indeed. Furious 7 on the other hand was right up there at the top. It gained a lucrative $1.5 billion on a planetary level.
Avengers: Age of Ultron meanwhile hit the sweet spot and was a crowd favorite. It fulfilled the need for action and fighting alongside the passion for hero (and heroine) worship among the scads of people who showed up to see it.
The Reese Witherspoon- Sophia Vergara comedy film titled Hot Pursuit on the other hand failed to lure in substantial people due to its weak storyline. When you have such a formula that neither interests the masses nor grabs their attention then there is bound to be empty seats in theaters. It’s a no brainer.
And couple that with the dismal reviews of Hot Pursuit and you get a pretty good idea of why the movie bombed when it came to theaters. The audiences of today want more spicier fare. They cannot stand to be bored for even a single second. And so the film did not do too well.
According to Box Office Mojo, US weekend box office top 5 movies are:
- Avengers: Age of Ultron: $77.2 million ($312.58 million total)
- Hot Pursuit: $13.3 million ($13.3 million total)
- The Age of Adaline: $5.6 million ($31.5 million total)
- Furious 7: $5.27 million ($338.4 million total)
- Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2: $5.19 million ($58.07 million total)
