KGI Securities predicts that Apple will only sell 5 to 6 million watches in the third quarter of 2015.
KGI Securities which is considered one of the most accurate Apple analyst in the world has just come up with a dramatic change in its previous prediction about the Apple Watch sales figure.
Earlier KGI predicted that Apple will be shipping 20-30 million smartwatches but now with the reports of faulty Apple Watch’s Taptic Engine component and slow demand, only 5 to 6 million watches could be shipped in the third quarter of 2015. This is a huge claim as Apple Watch was sold out within few minutes after Apple started taking online preorders.
The shipment dates for most of the Apple Watch variants dropped to June and earlier response from Apple fans was quit positive but now it is being reported that the demand is slowing down and we see no substantial downgrade in shipment times. This means that the units produced in Q2 are enough to meet the current demand.
KGI also says that most of the people are opting for the 42mm version while the 38mm version is not much in demand. Interestingly 80% of the orders placed are for 42mm version and KGI believes that men mostly opt for the larger version while women are happy with the 38mm version. Buying Apple Watch is still complicated and can be ordered online only. Tim Cooks reportedly told the employees that it will be available to buy in stores next month, we might see a hike in the demand then.
