Academy Awards: The Stage is Set for 2015 Oscars

Co-executive Producer Neil Meron predicts the format of the show with Neil Patrick Harris’s hosting challenges and star-studded performances.

Academy Awards are considered the prestigious awards in Hollywood and each year, the expectations are high for the award ceremony. It comes as a great honor to the network which gets to broadcast the entire show. if it was as simple as just giving away the awards, it could be done in a Beverly Hilton like the Golden Globes. To make it the most anticipated night of the year, the night has to be full of glam and bam.

The stars put on their best for the Red Carpet and it has become one of the Academy Awards tradition in itself to look out for the fashion on the red carpet. With the best designer work to the most expensive jewels and the best tailored tuxes, it is a preview to the glam of the night.

This year Ryan Seacrest and Guiliana Rancic will be taking on the red carpet duty. Rancic even died her hair brunette to look different on the red carpet. That includes fashion analysis, thoughts while going in and expectations for the night. Kelly Osbourne and Ross Matthews will be providing full fashion commentary as the celebrities arrive for the Academy Awards 2015.

If it is exciting on the red carpet, it is double the fun inside the Dolby Digital Theatre. Co-Executive producer, Neil Meron has been producing the Oscars for the past three years. According to him, with all the celebrities and hype of the nominees and the anticipation; there is only one thing that everyone expects when they tune in to watch the Academy Awards. Entertainment. Yes, while ‘the Oscar goes to’ and acceptance speeches taking up most of the time of the two hour running time.

Meron talked with Sara Haines of “Good Morning America” and said that preparing for the show, you have to keep the morale up. The performers and the audience are both in anticipation so you have to build up their excitement. People get the news that Jennifer Hudson is performing but what she is performing has to be kept secret.

Lady Gaga will be paying tribute. To whom? You have to watch to find out. Anna Kendrick and Jack Black are performing. Are they performing together or not? These are the things that build the excitement. You give away the bait that hooks the audience and they have to watch the show to answer all the questions.

In the night of anticipation and excitement, there is one person on whom the tempo of the whole night depends upon. This year, it is the award show host protégé Neil Patrick Harris. Neil would take the Academy Awards stage this year and while he has been up on that stage before, every year is different. Every year the movies are different, the hype is different and the stars are different.

As the night progresses, a room full of hopefuls becomes the night of what George Clooney quoted at the Golden Globes as the ‘losers’. In that kind of atmosphere, it comes down to the host to keep it all light and entertaining.
