Darth Vader’s replacement has been cast

When it comes to Star Wars, just about everyone is familiar with the films. If you are a fan of the franchise, you would also likely know that with the Disney purchase of LucasFilm, more Star Wars flicks are coming.

The next Star Wars film will be the seventh in the franchise and picks up when the original trilogy left off more or less. The film is said to focus mainly on the children of Leia and Han Solo. With Darth Vader dead, the film will need a new villain.

Exactly who that villain will be in the movie is unknown. All we know is that he will be in the same vein as Vader. The actor who will play the new bad guy in the film has reportedly been chose.

The Guardian reports that Adam Driver, the actor from the HBO series Girls, will be playing the villain. According to reports, Driver beat out more established actors for the role such as Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving. Star Wars has a history of using little known and unknown actors in key parts, so the move is no surprise.

The movie is set to start filming in April in London and more cast members will be unveiled then. There will be three new films to round out the trilogy with the first set for December 18, 2015. The producer of Girls, Lena Durnham confirmed Driver being offered the roll on twitter.
