Apple Adds HealthKit-Compatible Apps on its App Store

Now that iOS 8.0.2 has been released to solve the reported issues caused by iOS 8.0.1, Apple has added a new featured section called “Apps for Health” on the App Store. The new section lists apps that are taking advantage of Apple’s HealthKit platform.

“Experience an entirely new approach to wellness where your fitness app can talk to your calorie tracker, your doctor can be automatically notified of updates to your health data, and great apps work together for a healthier you,” Apple writes. “This handpicked collection highlights the best fitness, nutrition, and medical apps customized for iOS 8.”

Speaking of the apps, the list includes WebMD, MyFitnessPal, Noom, Carrot Fit, Centered, FitStar, Fitnet, Human, MotionX 24/7, Omvana, Patient IO, Yummly, Zova, and 7 Minute Workout. It’s worth noting that Apple postponed the launch of the said HealthKit-compatible apps on the App Store due to a bug found in the initial release of iOS 8.

“We discovered a bug that prevents us from making HealthKit apps available on iOS 8 today,” an Apple spokesperson said. “We’re working quickly to have the bug fixed in software update and have HealthKit apps available by the end of this month.”

It didn’t help when iOS 8.0.1 rendered the cellular network connectivity uselesson some Apple devices. Apple finally fixed the issues in iOS 8.0.2. If you’re looking for some nice health apps, you can start with the apps above. Just make sure you already have iOS 8.0.2 installed on your Apple device.
