Apple announces iPad Air 2 with just 6.1 mm thickness




Apple has unveiled the next generation iPad, the iPad Air 2 with just 6.1 mm thickness which makes it “18 percent thinner than the first iPad.”

Processor

It is powered by all new 64 bit A8X chip featuring 3 billion transistors which results in 2.5x faster GPU and 40 percent faster CPU power. There is also an M8 motion coprocessor as in iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Camera

Talking about camera, it features 8 MP isight camera with (f/2.4 aperture) which does 1080 p videos.

Display

The display on the iPad Air 2 has an “optically-bounded display which is also being used in Microsoft’s Surface. This means that there is absolutely no gap between the screen and the body which makes you feel like you are actually touching the thing on the screen.There is also a anti-reflective coating which greatly reduces the glare.

Battery

Apple is promising all day battery life for the new iPad Air 2 with 10 hours of usage.

Touch ID

Touch ID is now on iPad which supports Apple Pay and supports third party apps like Mint to make use of it. iPad Air 2 will ship with OS 8.1

Pricing and availability

Apple is using gold colour iPad for Demo purpose, and trust me its looks amazing!!! It comes in Silver, space grey and Gold version starting at $499 for the 16 gb Wifi version.The  64GB and 128 Gb models are $599 and $699 respectively.Add $130 to these prices for the LTE versions. Apple is also offering iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 with $100 price cut and also the first generation iPad Mini at just $249.
