Apple gives its Shuttle Bus Drivers a 25% Raise

Apple has decided that they will be giving a 25% raise to the shuttle bus drivers who transport employees from work to home.

Apple is trying to improve the conditions for the service workers that keep the Silicon Valley humming. The company has announced that their bus drivers will get a 25% raise. They will fund this 25% into their hourly rates. These bus drivers are employed by Compass Transportations and Royal Coach Tours.

A spokeswoman told San Jose Mercury News that drivers that work the split shift which work from morning and evening, will earn higher hourly wages. Apple spokeswoman, Kristin Huguet said that 5000 Apple employees take advantage of the commute alternatives program in the Bay Area.

She said that Apple is working with the bus companies to make a number of changes. She said that as many as 150 drivers are working for companies and Apple wants to make a number of changes for them. She said that the wages of the drivers will rise 25% on average which is dependent upon what they are making right now.

Greg Gallup who is the chief operating officer for Apple said that the drivers will be amongst the highest paid in the Silicon Valley. He said that their initiative will attract good drivers and will help them in retaining the good ones.

The service workers in Silicon Valley are to be taken care of. They cook, clean, drive and maintain security for a lot of gifted people. The technological world is being changed every day because of these people.

Now we are also observing that shuttle bus drivers from Loop Transportation and Compass Transportation are joining and they are negotiating for better pays and benefits. One spokesperson from Apple said that money is important and they’re happy that the drivers will get a raise.

One driver Tommy Leyva who works for Apple, was delighted to learn that he would be getting a raise very soon. He said that anything Apple is willing to do for us is going to be terrific. He is 58 years old and he lives in San Jose and he said that he couldn’t wait to see the raise in his check.
