The latest iOS nears iOS 7 distribution levels
Apple says iOS 8 already on 46% of devices
The iOS 8’s adoption rate has been quite impressive so far and according to claims from Apple‘s developer support portal for iOS App Store metrics, the new OS has faced a rapid adoption rate since it launched on September 17th. It is said that by now some 46 percent of devices are running the mobile operating system. However, this increase also means a decrease in the adoption of the iOS 7 and these statistics show us that the number of iPhones, iPads and iPod touch units running the outgoing iOS 7 has dropped to 49 percent of the whole as of Sept. 21. The earlier versions of the iOS are left with a 5% share.
If we make comparisons with the previous iOS releases, the iOS 8 has been doing great. According to the ad network Chitika, last year’s iOS 7 launch managed to garner a 52 percent Web share after one week of availability. The iOS 7 adoption was kept an eye on for over a year by Chitika and they have concluded that distribution hit up to 90 percent for iPhones and 85 percent for iPads in the days leading up to Apple’s iOS 8 reveal at WWDC in May. It wont be wrong to say that Apple’s latest iOS is also being helped by the release of the new iPhone 6 models.
