At the CES 2015, Fortemedia will exhibit a Low Power, Key Word Spotting Voice Trigger and Control IC

The new technology ‘iM401D’ is a mini digital signal processor for voice trigger and command processing.

Fortemedia is going to showcase its latest devices at the International CES 2015. Fortemedia has announced the production and availability of its iM401D low power, keywords spotting voice trigger and control IC. The product is a mini-Digital Signal Processor (DSP) which has been designed for trigger and voice command processing.


The iM401D is a purpose-built, all digital product that supports digital microphone input. The new device also has the ability of the one shot command recognition with third party algorithms.

This new device by Fortemedia will be exhibited at CES 2015. This product provides an extremely low power solution for always-on device voice control applications. It is also built with a flexible digital voice detection system that provides it with very low power operation when listening for the voice of commands.

The voice also has a very small footprint and comes in a WLCSP package that has dimensions of 1.385L x 1.889W x 0.55H mm. It also comes in a DFN package that has dimensions of 3L x 3W x 0.85H mm. Due to the particularly small size of the device it can be fixed with any consumer electronics product which can range from a tablet to a smart phone to small wearable devices.

Currently the iM401D is available to users with Sensory Inc’s TrulyHandsFree Voice Control product that supports features such as a pre-defined key word trigger which has an optional speaker verification threshold (SVT), a user-defined key word trigger again with a SVT and even pre-defined command phrase recognition. It can even support multiple languages which are a blessing for many users as they can now select the language of their choice. And the users can also see the new product at CES 2015.

The CEO and Chairman of Fortemedia Paul Huang stated that the company was very excited in introducing this low power voice input processing product to the consumers. He also explained that the device iM401D will make wearable devices very easy to operate for the users.

Even the CEO of Sensory Todd Mozer stated that their company was very happy and looked forward to work with companies such as Fortemedia so that they can deliver the highest performance devices to the consumers. He explained that this partnership of TrulyHandsFree and iM401D is a great example of this.
