AT&T Will Lock Apple SIM To Its Network On New iPads After Activation

Apple SIM will become so hooked to all those microwaves the carrier sends your way that the Apple SIM will become permanently locked to it.

This might sound a little disappointing but the truth is that switching carriers on the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 isn’t as easy as it sounds after all and this isn’t exactly what Apple had in mind. AT&T has made it clear in their recent announcement that it is certainly not going to second fiddle to Apple and it will lock the Apple SIM to AT&T network after an iPad has connected to it. At this point all GSM-enabled iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 tablets are being shipped with the new Apple SIM.

In an even last week, Apple has unveiled the two new tablets and it also revealed that all new iPads that were GSM enabled would come with the Apple’s own universal SIM card included. This Apple SIM is going to allow users to switch networks on the move without the need to switch the SIM. The Apple SIM is currently made compatible to work with the three major carriers including the T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T networks.

AT&T for that matter has something else on its mind and its new announcement shows tons of insecurity. If you are going to use the AT&T network on your iPad, the Apple SIM is going to besort of hooked completely hooked to all those microwaves the carrier sends your way that the Apple SIM will become permanently locked to it. So this would turn your Apple SIM into an AT&T SIM from Apple. However it should be noted here that the device in itself wont be locked; it will just be shipped with the Apple SIM for you to decide which carrier services to take on.
