It looks like we will see less Super Bowl car commercials in the Super Bowl 2015.
The Super Bowl ad line-up in recent years was packed with car commercials. The Super Bowl 2015 ad line-up will have likely a lower number of car ads as several car makers already confirmed not to advertise in the Super Bowl 2015. According to Variety NBC is charging a record $4.5m for a 30 second Super Bowl 2015 ad slot. The high price is though not the reason why some car makers turn away from the Super Bowl.
We already reported that Volkswagen will sit out the Super Bowl 2015. Besides the German car maker who had the huge Super Bowl ad in 2011 with the ad titled “The Force”, Jaguar is not returning to the Super Bowl.
Jaguar has advertised in the Super Bowl the first time last year. Lincoln also has decided to not run a Super Bowl commercial in 2015.
Many car makers are still keeping their Super Bowl ad plans secret. The most notorious of them is Chrysler. They kept their Super Bowl plans secret until the last in past years.
So far Mercedes-Benz, Kia, BMW, Lexus, Toyota and Nissan are the car makers that already confirmed a Super Bowl 2015 Ad. Nissan made a big announcement as the brand returns to the Super Bowl ad line-up after a 18-year break. The Lexus Super Bowl 2015 Ad got released in full online on Jan. 14.
