Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson is rumored to be looking for a new vocation beyond professional football: fashion critic. Word is the disgraced NFLer wants to join the “Fashion Police.”

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson has always had a penchant for glitz, glamour and the finer things in life. The 6-time NFL Pro-Bowler has amassed many accolades during his career; he’s even ridden a prized bull in a rodeo. With Kelly Osbourne out with the Fashion Police, Chad Johnson wants to add clothing critic to his resume by assuming the former diva’s chair, this according to the folks at TMZ.

The online tabloid caught up with Chad recently and he dished about his desire in “making a run for” Kelly’s former role with the show made famous by the late Joan Rivers.

“Who better when it comes to fashion than me? I rarely wear labels or high-end clothing and kill it.”

While it sounds like fodder or a quip-in-passing, sources close to Chad Johnson said he’s serious about being considered for the Fashion Police gig.

“He REALLY wants it.”

The air has been quite tense since Rivers passed away suddenly last year during a doctor’s visit for a routine visit. It was uncertain if the show would go on, but Melissa Rivers put those doubts to rest by confirming the production would continue as her mother would want it to. Arguably, producers were hard-pressed to find a replacement, but they quickly landed on feisty redhead, Kathy Griffin.

Since her installment, rumors have been running rampant that the cast was lacking chemistry and relationships were being tested on the set. Apparently, things came to a head when co-host, Giuliana Rancic made some controversial remarks about Disney starlet, Zendaya’s Oscars red carpet fashion. A firestorm erupted when Rancic quipped that the actress, who donned dreadlocks at the Academy Awards, smelled like “patchouli oil” and “weed.”

Zendaya took to Twitter and ripped the FP co-host over her insensitive remarks, and said that she was saluting women of color, but was not a user of ganja. Throngs of fans on the social media site, including numerous celebrities followed suit – Osbourne included, who said she was rethinking her role with the show.

Soon thereafter, Osbourne quit the show and many suggested it was due to the comments made by her peer. However, E! reps released a statement and said Kelly was merely moving on to pursue other things. On Monday’s episode of the show, Giuliana issued a heartfelt apology, to which Zendaya accepted on social media.

Chad Johnson was beloved in the NFL during his 10 years with the Cincinnati Bengals. During the latter part of his career, played briefly with the New England Patriot and Miami Dolphins until his career came to a screeching halt in 2012 when he was arrested for domestic violence. Johnson had recently married Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada, but their marriage ended when Chad battered her in a dispute. Pictures showing her horrific injuries hit the internet, and Chad Johnson suddenly became Public Enemy Number 1. He reached a plea deal, was put on probation, but his career in the NFL was over and his marriage was up in smoke.

Today, Chad Johnson plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a receiver with the Montreal Alouettes. It’s a far cry from his glory days in the NFL, but he’s working and doing something he loves. Although there’s no word on possible Fashion Police replacements, many think Ochocinco is a shoe-in.

Should the flamboyant bad boy baller be given a shot in “the chair”?
