Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger says don’t believe the rumor mill that has been flying around about a divorce between him and wife Avril Lavigne.
Kroeger has been laughing off rumors that the couple are on the verge of a split and is trying to tell everyone that there just isn’t any truth to the tabloid stories.
“Sometimes it’s funny,” the singer told Canadian entertainment show eTalk. “When you’re standing in the checkout line at the grocery store and you look over and it’s your face on there. Not the … Kardashians … and Brangelinas … it’s ‘Chavril,’ ” he said with a laugh. “You’re like, ‘Can I buy all these? So that no one can see?’ “
Kroeger also stated that it’s a bit frustrating for family members who end up seeing him on the front pages at grocery stores with divorce rumors circling around the cover of magazines.
“You know my dad calls me up and he’s just like, ‘I haven’t slept in 2 days, what’s going on?’ I’m like, ‘Dad you’re not buying all this crap are you?’ You know, I get to hear all the rumor mill stuff. I find it very amusing,” he tells ET Canada in Los Angeles.
Using social media, fans pointed out the Lavigne celebrated her 30th birthday in September without her husband at the event. The Nickelback singer dismissed any talk of his absence as just a way to churn-the-pot for outlets willing to spread the ‘news’ about their breakup.
“When you get out of high school, and it’s like ugh, okay. All that rumor crap. All that stuff that people say behind each other’s backs is minuscule, pales in comparison to the world of celebrity or being married to a celebrity,” says Kroeger. “That’s high school multiplied exponentially. It’s ridiculous. How many times has Jennifer Aniston been pregnant this year? A dozen?”
Kroeger adds: “Let’s start a new rumor. I’m pregnant.”
