The actor, Dax Shepard had his buttocks clean shaved by his wife, Kristen Bell, for a sex scene he had to portray on screen.
The explicit scene he realistically portrayed in “This is Where I Leave You” required a helping hand from his wife. So Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell decided to cooperate in the rather odd job of having the latter shave the hair off the former’s butt.
He had to participate in a nude context in full view of the camera. Shepard later on confessed to Conan O’Brien that it was a pretty uncomfortable proposal.
The fact that he was a tall Caucasian with extra white skin meant that the shadows that were supposed to fall somewhere between his back and his butt simply were not there.
The partition being absent…Shepard had to play a scumbag of a character and furthermore he had to make love to Abigail Spencer. And one of the scenes had him expose his naked rear end.
While he did many leg and Gluteus Maximus exercises to make that region more prominent in preparation for the scene, he also decided to undergo one more humiliation by asking his wife to shave his hair down there since he couldn’t exactly reach those areas of his body.

Shepard said that he had to ask his beautiful and vivacious wife, Kristen Bell, to do the impossible. And he also said on the show that he can’t for the life of him understand why she put up with him after such an embarrassing act.
“My deep fear was that it would look like a werewolf trying to escape my butt crack,” Shepard said. “So I asked Kristen — the beautiful Kristen Bell that people can already not understand why she’s with me.”
He did say however that she was the only one he could have been frank enough with to have entrusted such a delicate and squeamish thing. Yet, he plainly says that it still felt very odd and weird indeed.
“She’s the only person I would feel comfortable — well, I didn’t even feel comfortable with her doing it,” he joked. “It was a terrible experience.”
His wife had employed an electric razor to finish the job. And she had sung a tune from the 80s to get her through the obviously bizarre and surreal ordeal. Oh well, sometimes such things happen in life, and the people who mind don’t matter while those who matter don’t mind!
