Driver crashes ZL1 Camaro into a swimming pool

Driver allegedly turned off traction control right before the crash

If ever a parent needed a reason to not buy a younger driver a high-powered sports car, this is it. A person being described as a “younger driver” crashed his expensive Chevrolet Camaro sports car into a swimming pool recently. The accident happened in Northwest Harris County, Texas reports Jalopnik.

The car reportedly cost $60,000 and according to reports, the driver lost control of the car. The vehicle is said to have spun out, skipped the curb, and crashed through a fence before landing in what appears to be a public swimming pool.

Authorities had to use a large crane to lift the vehicle out of the swimming pool. I can only imagine the cleaning that will have to be done to make the pool fit for people to swim in it again. Fuel and oil would have likely leaked out of the car.

It’s worth noting that the car does have traction control, but reports indicate the driver turned traction control off right before the car ended up in the pool. The ZL1 Camaro is a supercharged track ready version of the Camaro with a 580 hp V8 engine. The car can be had with either a manual or an automatic transmission. It can reach 60mph in only 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 184 mph.

It’s unclear if the car belonged to the young driver or if the car belong to a parent. Either way, no one was hurt in the accident. Moreover, it seems the driver didn’t die from embarrassment.
