The former president praises Cuba’s sending aid to Africa

Former Cuban President Fidel Castro has offered his country’s corporation to the US in order to combat the deadly Ebola virus which has finally broken through the chains of geographical boundaries, much to everyone’s fear. This offer comes despite the rivalry between the two countries which has been keeping their diplomatic relations in tension for more than half a century.

Castro published an article in an official newspaper in which he said “We gladly cooperate with American personnel in this task (the fight against Ebola), and not in pursuit of peace between the two states that have been adversaries for many years but, in any case, for world peace.”

The text was rightly titles as “The time of duty” and the former president has praised Cuba’s efforts in helping Africa cope up with the difficulties and sending sufficient aid. Castor says that Cuba has responded instantly to the request of the UN “as it has always done before such a request for cooperation.” Fidel Castro knows his country well; he has ruled the island for nearly half a century until 2006 and currently as the chief advisor to the government of his brother Raul Castro.

At the start of this month, Cuba sent around 165 medical workers to Sierra Leone and they are ready to offer nearly 300 more to Liberia and Guinea. These three countries have been worst hit by the deadly Ebola virus and the death toll continues to rise with more than half of the infected people already dead.
