Partipating McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. are giving away free coffee every morning for two weeks.

McDonald’s decided to kick off its second national Free Coffee Event on September 16th in order to cut back on the International Coffee Day frenzy on September 29th. The fast food chain started offering free coffee since September 16th and last week a statement came out from McDonald’s that said that it would be giving all of its guests a free small McCafé coffee for a two-week period during regular breakfast hours. All participating restaurants in the country adopted the new event.

Greg Watson, the McDonald’s executive who oversees menu innovation said in a statement, “We know our guests are busy, especially during the morning, and a free cup of coffee goes a long way in helping get their days started.” A social media hashtag was also trending and is still being used by al customers who can ‘sip and tell’ their embarrassing pre-coffee moments with #SipandTell and @McCafe. This is going to give them a chance to win custom gifts and other surprises.

Moreover, following the lead of retailers like Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks, McDonald’s is also going to start offering its McCafé fans a chance to drink their favorite coffee at home. The fast-food chain recently announced it would collaborate with Kraft to offer McCafé ground, whole bean and single-cup coffees in grocery stores all over the country.
