Google Penguin 3.0 Roll Out takes Weeks

Webmasters are chewing their fingernails since late Friday when Google rolled out a new version of Google Penguin. The Google Penguin 3.0 roll out will stretch over several weeks says a Googler.

If your site has not been impacted negatively since Friday when Google rolled out Penguin 3.0 you might not be in the clear yet. Google’s Pierre Far has now shared some details on the status of the Penguin 3.0 update. He said on Google+ (Via SearchEngineRoundtable):

“On Friday last week, we started rolling out a Penguin refresh affecting fewer than 1% of queries in US English search results. This refresh helps sites that have already cleaned up the web-spam signals discovered in the previous Penguin iteration, and demotes sites with newly-discovered spam. It’s a slow worldwide rollout, so you /4/notice it settling down over the next few weeks.”

This latest revelation has webmasters and SEO experts wondering why this takes so long. Either Google is continuously tweaking Penguin 3.0 or more likely feeding it with new signals that identify spammy websites. 

We did not see any changes in traffic on i4u.com since Friday. It is the same low traffic that the site get since almost a year now. All efforts so far to regain a reasonable amount of Google search traffic have failed. The good thing about this is that I am not worried about Penguin 3.0 as there is not much traffic left to loose.

The chatter on SEO discussion boards indicates that some sites saw a positive impact with Penguin 3.0, but it is not widespread. The impact of Penguin 3.0 seems also to be rather limited.
