Home Depot Black Friday extends into Cyber Week this Spring

Home Depot expands its Spring Black Friday sale with Spring Cyber Week.

Home Depot has hosted a Black Friday sale that started earlier this month. The 6th annual implementation of the odd marketing idea offered 11 days of in-store savings plus a daily deal on popular seasonal items, including live goods, grills and outdoor power tools.

This year Home Depot followed up their Spring Black Friday sale with a Cyber Week sale that started Sunday. It is not clear how much customers care that Home Depot borrows the famous fall shopping events for their Spring sales. Spring is an important sales period for Home Depot as home owners invest in their gardens and upgrade their houses. It makes sense for the retailer to host big sales events to push business.

Calling those sales event Spring sales would suffice, but then there would be no media outlet writing about these sales. There is a point to over-using Black Friday all year long.

The Home Depot is the world’s largest home improvement specialty retailer, with 2,269 retail stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces and Mexico. In fiscal 2014, The Home Depot had sales of $83.2 billion and earnings of $6.3 billion. The Company employs more than 300,000 associates.

Black Friday 2015 is on November 27, 2015, but the Black Friday sales are starting again at the beginning of November. Many Black Friday 2015 sales launch on November 1, 2015.
