HP dives into 3D printing with Multi Jet Fusion

The tech giant makes its long-awaited move into 3D printing — but machines using its technology won’t be widely available until 2016.

Hewlett-Packard is the one name we all associate with the printing segment and it has always remained at the top. When the world of printing ventured into the 3D platform, all eyes had been set on the master of printers. Finally the much awaited step has en announced from HP as on Wednesday it revealed its Multi Jet Fusion technology which will power new 3D commercial and manufacturing printers.

And of course we had been expecting something different; after all it was for a reason why HP had waited all this time. It hadn’t just been sitting back and enjoying the show of the 3D printers on the market, instead it had been planning its next move and coming home with a bang.

The company has claimed that their 3D printer has the newest technology of the 3D platform and apparently it is 10 times faster than that in existing 3D printers. And not just faster, but it is much more affordable than the rest and on top of that it prints stronger products than current offerings in the market. HP thinks that with incorporating these few enhancements, it can make the world of 3D printing mainstream and easily available for everyone. Unfortunately, the product has only been ‘announced’ so far and getting your hands on it is going to require some more wait till 2016.

A statement came from Stephen Nigro, an HP senior vice president, which said that “As we examined the existing 3D print market, we saw a great deal of potential but also saw major gaps in the combination of speed, quality and cost.”
