The Desire 820 is the first phone to run on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939)

The IFA has welcomed the latest member of the Desire family as HTC presented the Desire 820 as the successive device to the Desire 816 which had been quite popular. The Desire 820 holds a special place in the HTC product portfolio since it is the second HTC phone to have a 64-bit processor and the first phone to run on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (MSM8939), which has an octa-core CPU with eight Cortex-A53 cores, four of them clocked at 1.5GHz and four at 1.0GHz, along with Adreno 405 GPU. The 64-bit architecture surrounds the SoC and HTC is going to update the phone with Android L which can fully make use of the 64-bit processing.
