This is the first part of the final Hunger Games franchise.

The awaited Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is finally here. The story still continues to follow Katniss Everdeen played by Jennifer Lawrence. Katniss surviving the previous two Hunger Games ends up in District 13 and becomes the symbol of a mass rebellion against President Snow.

Since 21st November 2014, when the movie was released in North America it has grossed around $170 million in its opening weekend at the box office.

Critics consider the careful construction of Panem as the biggest strength of The Hunger Games series. Critics also consider that the chopping down of Mockingjay as Harry Potter series did to its final movie is not a good move.

However doing this led to less material in the Mockingjay Part 1 and so critics believe it gave time to director Francis Lawrence much more time to concentrate on the little things, such as the editing of scenes and sequences.

USA Today has declared this part of the movie as the best among the three. It is explained that the last year’s Catching Fire was much like the original Hunger Game’s, but Mockingjay is engrossed deeper into the idea of revolution rather than contests to the death.

It is also believed that this time Jennifer Lawrence has revealed her true acting skills as she is able to express her emotional feelings amazingly as a rebel leader. The supporting actors with Jennifer have also done an amazing job, especially the new entry to the crew Julianne Moore who plays District 13 President Alma Coin and has delivered an outstanding performance with the right authority the character required.

Jennifer is praised by USA Today so much that it claims that any other actor in place of Jennifer Lawrence would have been a fail because the authenticity she has brought into the character of Katniss, the rebel leader is just outstanding and has no match. Even Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab has praised Jennifer for the role she has played.

This movie in the eyes of critics has topped the previous Hunger Games due to the performances of the actors. According to Guardian this new Hunger Games movie also has sufficient action in it to keep the action lovers excited.

However the movie starts slowly it gathers pace over time and it is not a problem as the acting keeps the viewers enacted and excited. The sound track for Mockingjay by Lorde is also amazing; it seems that she has given her best for the track.

Guardian has also praised the movies theme and the way it portrays the power of political symbols and the danger of becoming one. The screenplay by Peter Craig and Danny Strong has also received recognition.

Overall Mockingjay has earned the respect of the critics and the more important part the fans. With this crew and the effort they have put into it, it seems that the second part of Mockingjay is going to be even better.
