Interpol Adds Six FIFA Officials to Most Wanted List After Blatter Resigns

Interpol following the American court has issued Red Notices against six FIFA officials for their crimes of perjury and corruption a day after FIFA president Sepp Blatter resigns.

On this year’s election for FIFA presidency, there was a rouse towards electing Sepp Blatter for a fifth term. Other candidates believed that Blatter has led the corruption go on for too long and it was now corrupting the game and all the people associated with it.

After an inquiry that led to a case in the American court, the court gave a verdict against six people. Following through in the inquiries, Interpol also took action by giving out the names of these six individuals including two former top FIFA officials and four former sports marketing and broadcasting executives indicted by the Justice Department on a Most Wanted Listed.

Interpol has issued Red Notices that would urge the arrest of the six FIFA officials under Interpol jurisdiction, according to NYTimes. Although Interpol cannot make arrests in other countries, it can urge for immediate arrests of these people for charges including racketeering, conspiracy and corruption.”

The red notices have been issued at the request of the United States, include the

former FIFA vice president Jack Warner, who is from Trinidad and Tobago and is accused of accepting bribes in the matter of awarding the 2010 World Cup to South Africa;

Nicolás Leoz, a Paraguayan citizen and former FIFA executive committee member;

Alejandro Burzaco, an Argentine who controls a sports marketing business based in Argentina;

Hugo and Mariano Jinkis, Argentines who own a sports marketing business; and

José Margulies, a Brazilian citizen who owns broadcasting businesses.

The list was given day after FIFA President Sepp Blatter stepped down from his position. He resigned formally on Tuesday yielding to tantamount pressure. He spoke in Zurich that he would resign and the process would take months which will also include election of the next President.

Blatter came to work the next day as the list was issued. Decision made under Blatter regime are already being questioned. Qatar has already been accused of labor right violation and chaos is about as the Qatar government assures that no person has lost their lives in the building of the FIFA world cup venues.
