Jane Velez-Mitchell leaves CNN

Jane Velez-Mitchell left the milieu that was CNN after her show’s cancellation recently.

CNN is undergoing a massive restructuring. And among the first few who were laid off /4/be included Jane Velez-Mitchell. She had acted as the host of HLN. But now all that is no more. Jane along with a dozen of her production team members got the pink slip on Tuesday. 

CNN plans on slashing its workers by almost 10%. What that would mean is that 170 employees alone would be shown the door by the end of the next couple of days. 

It has been more than half a decade since Jane’s program began airing on the CNN airwaves. But it looks like now the times are lean and profits have ceased for the Atlanta-based cable network. 

That is why such important and famous names who were game changers have been vacated from the scenery at CNN. Jane’s show will be cancelled and in its place Forensic Files will start its stage theatrics. 

Besides this, CNN has decided to dismantle its Los Angeles-based entertainment site. Three separate shows also got thrown into the dustbin of history. 

The show with Newt Gingrich and several others in it, titled Crossfire, has been chucked out for the second time in a row. The ratings were too low for comfort. 

As for Rachel Nichols’ show “Unguarded”, it too has been given a swift kick in the seat of its pants. But Rachel has been saved by the skin of her teeth and will work in other projects.

Sanjay Gupta too will have to let go of his obsessive medical program. Yet magically he too will stay put and get employed in better stuff. And finally Christine Romans’ CNN Money will be discarded in the scrap heap…but she will continue to be in charge of other pursuits. 

CNN has full plans to lay off at least 300 individuals from their setup within the next few months. This is a necessary evil since the organization needs to reduce its excess economic flab which had accumulated over years of showing programs with low popularity ratings.
