Joe Belfiore confirms updated Office for Windows Phone is in works

Microsoft is having an event on January 21 at Redmond when more details will be revealed on this

Last year when Microsoft was busy releasing updated and free versions of Office on both iOS as well as Android, most of the Windows Phone users were left disappointed. The most prominent feature of the Windows Phone remains to be Office and Microsoft has almost always very proudly advertised it. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been updated since a long time and it is way behind the Office on iOS and Android. Many of us have been asking the same question as to why Microsoft is ignoring an important platform. Thanks to Joe Belfiore who has come out and assured everyone that this Microsoft isn’t exactly ignoring this.

On his post on Weibo, he said that “I want to assure you that our Office team has not forgotten Windows Phone” and as it happens, they are “just aligning all of our news and announcements to a single event.” Microsoft has a team in China working on the features specifically for the Chinese market and more details are to be revealed before the Chinese New Year on February 19th.

A January 21 event is going to be held at Redmond and that’s when Microsoft is going to reveal more about this along with some other Microsoft products.

“I want to assure you that our Office team has not forgotten Windows Phone – we’re just aligning all of our news and announcements to a single event. You’ll hear much more about what we have planned before Chinese New Year.”
