Los Angeles Dodgers are Pursuing Jon Lester Ahead of the Next Season

Jon Lester is at the right place and at the right time. Apparently, Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in getting into a contract with him. This could be a very well timed opportunity for Lester because he is at the moment a free agent.

It’s not that Dodgers don’t have enough players ; they simply want to have more than enough so that they are able to handle any challenges that /4/come their way in the upcoming seasons.

Sometimes the most reliable players could get injured which could ruin the ambitions of the entire team. Dodgers don’t want to walk down that road and that is probably why they are planning ahead of time.

The Dodgers made the announcement on their website despite allegations that there are other teams that had made proposals to Lester before them. The number of proposals don’t matter because at the end of the day, it’s the team with the sweetest deal that will win him over.

It goes without saying that Lester can perform very well when grouped with the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu and righty Dan Haren. These players have one thing in common, they hold an Cy Young award except Ryu. However, Ryu has made a name for himself in Korea after getting majority of the All Star Awards.

Lester is a seasoned player. He has played for Red Sox and Oakland and managed to record 16-11 with a 2.46 ERA this year. As a matter of fact, he has carried the All-Star award three times. He was actually nominated for Cy Young this year but did not make it because he was ranked number four. The outcome is not new to him because he got the same results back in 2010.

Despite the fact that there are other teams that are eying Lester, Dodgers president, Stan Kasten will definitely have an edge over them because he has dealt with the star before while working at Braves and Nationals.  Kasten therefore knows the exact buttons that need to be pushed to bring him on board.

The future of Dodgers is not bright as it seems because at one time they /4/find themselves on the loosing end. This is because there is no guarantee that Greinke will hold on to his contract after 2015. Besides that, Haren’s contract is almost ending because there are only twelve months left.
