The actress, Lynda Bellingham, died of cancer complications after a five decade long career of wonderful acting.
Actress Lynda Bellingham has left the world a sadder place than it was with her in it. She had always found roles and character to fill, whether on television, in movies or on the platform of the theatrical stage. Lynda appeared in the BBC’s All Creatures Great and Small. And she appeared in adverts having to do with the Oxo Mum. They spanned more than a decade and a half.
Lynda was born, Meredith Lee Hughes, in Canada in the year 1948. She was born while her mother had not married, and so her mother’s strict Jewish family made her give up her daughter for adoption. A British couple took over as her guardians and they looked after her in England.
She had an ideal childhood on her foster parents’ farm. Later on she wanted to try her hand at acting. She actually wanted to act due to a longing for love. After she found out that she was an adopted child, the intense thirst for love never ended till the last days of her life.
She was to act in several ventures. She also wed producer Greg Smith but the end result was divorce due to his sexual mischief-making on the side. Lynda appeared in The Sweeney, The Gentle Touch and The Pink Medicine Show.
Later on she tied the knot with restaurateur Nunzio Peluso. Their 16 year marriage was one of domestic violence and cruelty. They had two children. Her terrible husband once locked her up in a room and there came a time when he even threatened to slit her throat with a knife.
In 1986, she made an appearance in The Inquisitor. And in 2008, she got a role on The Calendar Girls. That was the year she married Michael Pattemore. Towards her later years, she contacted her biological mother in Canada. The two reconciled and called each other regularly.
Then her real mother died in 2012 leaving her very sad. Finally, she contracted colon cancer about a year ago. In September of 2014, she made it public knowledge that the cancer had metastasized and she had only a few months left to live on earth.
She said before her death that she was a failure as a sex goddess on screen. Today, she is no more among us and we should all pray for her soul’s journey in the afterlife.
