Lynda Bellingham couldnt live to see another Christmas celebration

In her last interview, she talked about being obsessed with Christmas

It is sad to know how one person doesn’t even seem to have an idea of whether he would live to see another day or not. The late Lynda Bellingham’s final TV interview leaves us overly emotional as she shared her details of what she would like her Christmas celebrations to be. As she decided to stop the treatment for her cancer, she hoped for one more festive occasion in her life. Unfortunately, she couldn’t live to that day and died on the weekend which came a few days after she publicly announced her decision regarding her treatment.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that she did the interview for Loose Women as she was a regular panellist for a number of years for the show and during this discussion she assured her friends and colleagues that all would be “fine” and said she longed to be remembered for her honesty.

The cancer had spread from her colon to other parts of the body which could no longer go on without the treatment. She died at the age of 66 in the arms of her loving husband Michael Pattemore. In her last recorded interview which she did at the start of this year, she shared her obsession for Christmas and was quite enthusiastic about having another one this year.

“Bloody right I am! I am. I AM,” she insisted, during the interview with Janet Street Porter and Coleen Nolan in front of a studio audience which included Pattemore. She continued saying “We’re going to go to the hotel and have the meal but just my little bit of control – we’re going home for pudding and presents, it’s exciting. My only problem is getting the presents – my sister Jean has been absolutely amazing and I keep sending him (Michael) out for bizarre things.”

Bellingham wished she would have a real Christmas tree and also told everyone that her husband wasn’t so enthusiastic about it. “He’s spent years trying to put me off a real tree and we’re very lucky as we live in a converted psychiatric hospital which has got a really tall ceiling. All I’ve ever wanted is a real tree. No don’t make me sweep up the pine needles, oh my goodness’,” she joked, mimicking Pattemore. “Hey I’m getting one, I’m getting a real tree. He’ll just have to struggle out of the window with it afterwards, that’s fine.”

Nolan was present on today’s live panel and she got overly upset after they showed a little clip where Bellingham was seen talking so enthusiastically about Christmas. Bellingham was welcomed at the studio amid a thunder of claps and a standing ovation after which she said that she would love to be remembered.

“Just as an honest person. Honesty. We’ve been through this as Loose Women – you can’t do Loose Women unless you’re honest. You can’t hide anything, it really is honest when we answer questions. That’s why I felt I could write about it and people would trust. Trust is a huge thing. Not just as an actor, not just as a lover, not just as a wife, that trust thing. Just to say you could trust her. As you know I wanted to win an Oscar at 75 for Best Newcomer! Sadly that’s gone out of the window.

Talking about her memoir There’s Something I’ve Been Dying To Tell You, which was released less than a fortnight ago, Bellingham said: “This book is for everyone, if one person who feels on their own – you do feel alone – and it’s very hard to take on board, obviously it’s taken us a year to absorb it. But once you do, instead of worrying about dying, you must enjoy the bits in between.”
