Madonna falls from the stage due to a wardrobe malfunction as a back-up dancer pulled her neck down.
Madonna the American singer and artist who has redefined the boundaries of mainstream pop music in her music videos was all set to perform at the British music awards. The performance from the queen of pop on the British Isle was a long time in coming since it had been 20 years Madonna last performed on the stage of the British music awards.
As is the norm for Madonna her performance was set to be outlandish and bring awe to the crowd but all did not go as planned and the awe audience gave was of concern. On Wednesday night Madonna took the stage to perform her song ‘Living for Love’ with a number of dancers in a black and red maître D costume with a cape. The initial performance of the song was smooth however disaster soon struck.
In a choreographed move Madonna was supposed to take off her cape collar and one of her dancer was then supposed to pull it off her to reveal the sparkly outfit underneath. In an unfortunate circumstance the cape collar got stuck around Madonna’s throat as the strap was tied too tight around her neck.
Before Madonna could untie the cape around her neck the back-up dancer did his part i.e. the dancer pulled the cape and resulted in pulling Madonna backwards. Due to the pull at the hands of the back-up dancer Madonna fell neck first onto the stage from a pair of small stairs.
The fall seemingly bad literally toppled Madonna off her feet and she took about a minute to come to her senses. But in a perfect move Madonna went back to performing again and proved the show must go on.
Even the crowd was boggled at the entire debacle as some thought it was simply a choreographed dance move as Madonna had sung the lyrics I let my guard down and fell into your arm only minutes before her fall.
When Madonna came back on her feet she started singing the lyrics now it’s over and I will carry on leaving the crowd confused but after the show the fall was revealed to have been an accident.
The fall went viral on the social media as the YouTube video blogger Clare Cullen shared the clip with the caption Oh my God!

After the awards Madonna shared a few pics on her Instagram account. In one of the pics Madonna described the experience as equivalent to shitting herself due to embarrassment apparently. Madonna then in another picture of the cape revealed the cape was from Armani but was tied up too tight.
However Madonna went on to explain nothing can stop her and all the love and well wishes from the fans have lifted her up again and she feels fine. In another picture Madonna posted fans could see her silhouette standing tall and holding a pair of horns with the caption nothing can keep me down.
