Mars Rover Engineer puts his Smarts behind Quicklocks Smartlocks

A new Kickstarter project aims to get funding for a new smart lock design

Quicklocks is a new crowd funding project on Kickstarter created by Ryan Hyde, an engineer who worked on the Mars Rover.

Quicklocks are the world’s first set of locks (deadbolts, doorlocks and padlocks) that can be locked and unlocked with both Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (NFC).

Why is this useful? Unlike other smart locks, the combination of Bluetooth and NFC gives you a simple way to open your locks, even if you don’t have a smartphone. By swiping an NFC ring or small NFC stickers that can be placed anywhere, you get simple and convenient access to your front door or padlocked bike.

Quicklocks are weatherproof and built with a battery that can last over 2 years. You can also share access with your friends.

Ryan Hyde aims to raise $100,000 to bring Quicklocks to the market. Watch the Quicklocks video to get inspired. If you want to support this project go here.
