Meet Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan: The Stars of Fifty Shades of Grey

Who are the stars portraying Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the most highly anticipated and racy film of 2015. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are playing lead roles in Fifty Shades of Grey.

The anticipation for the release of Fifty Shades of Grey has been building up for a year. As the premiere draws closer let us take a look at the leading stars of the upcoming film based upon the record breaking pseudo-erotic books by E. L. James. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan will be portraying the main characters of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey respectively in the film.

Jamie Dornan, 32, is an Irish actor and former model and grew up in Northern Ireland. During his stint as a model Dornan posed for many famous brands such as Calvin Klein, Dior, and Armani. He landed his first acting gig for the role of Axel Von Fersen in Coppola’s 2006 ‘Marie Antoinette’ film adaption. Dornan’s most famous role was as Sheriff Graham in the famous 2011 series ‘Once Upon a Time’.

Dornan dated actress Keira Knightley from 2003-2005, then met his future wife British actress Amelia Warner. Dornan and Warner married in April 2013 and Warner gave birth to their daughter in November 2013. In October 2013 Dornan landed the role of Christian Grey and overnight became a tabloid sensation with speculation from fans of Fifty Shades ranging from his acting chops to his physique.

Dakota Johnson, 25, is an actress, former child model and an avid dancer. Dakota Johnson is the daughter of veteran actress Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Johnson began her modelling career at 12 years old for a shoot in Teen Vogue and began her acting career in the 1999 film ‘Crazy in Alabama’ directed by her then step-father Antonio Banderas.

Johnson went on to star in many films in supporting roles, including ‘The Social Network’. In 2013 Dakota Johnson landed the role of Anastasia Steele, and it is her first main role. Since July 2014 Dakota Johnson has been dating Matthew Hitt, a singer for the band ‘Drowners’.

Fifty shades of Grey is the first installment in the Fifty Shades trilogy. The books are about Anastasia Steele, a college graduate who interviews and falls for a mysterious billionaire Christian Grey, who has emotional demons. The wide screen adaption is slated to be release on the 14th of February 2015.

Fans of the books are excited for the release but they’re also wondering if the film will have the same vibe and connection between the main characters as in the books, to which the director Sam Taylor-Johnson replied ‘Damn Right, It will’.

The promotion of the film has been relentless with trailer and clips providing a glimpse since summer of 2014. Carefully timed posters and articles have assisted in building up the hype.  The two main stars Dornan and Johnson have been giving interviews and making the rounds as part of the film’s promotional tour.

So it is sufficient to say they know each other very well because in a recent interview when Johnson was asked to describe Dornan, she said he has a beautiful voice and sings constantly. Dornan on the other hand shared that he had to apologise to Johnson multiple times before filming a really lascivious and explicit scene in the film.

Fifty Shades of Grey is hot in news these days. If the steamy film manages not to be panned by critics and becomes a box office smash it will be a Hollywood home run for the careers of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.
