Microsoft financial results show 10.5 million Lumias sold

In total, phone hardware brought in $2.3 billion in revenues for the company

Microsoft’s Q4 financial results have been revealed and things appear to be on the positive side for the company with $5.8 billion in net income coming in from $26.5 billion of revenue. As compared to Q4 2013, this shows an increase of 8 percent in the revenues. For the same quarter last year, Microsoft’s net income was $6.5 billion.

The Nokia division which is now completely under Microsoft is also doing well. The financial details also disclosed the $243 expense which is related to the continuing integration of the Nokia Devices and Services division. Under this division, Microsoft has been able to sell 10.5 million Lumia phones, up from 8.2 million a year ago and 9.3 million in the previous quarter.

$2.3 billion in revenues can be attributed to the phone hardware and we can see revenue slipping as the market reorients towards the affordable side of the Lumia line. As far as the featurephone department is concerned, it managed to sell 39.7 million phones. Surface, which is another part of the company’s hardware unit has shown a 24% growth, thanks to the Surface Pro 3. Its overall revenue was $1.1 billion which has gotten up from $908 million the quarter before.

The bigger hardware line Xbox managed to bring in sales of 6.6 million units, for both the Xbox One and 360. This however has shown a not-so-significant drop from the previous period when the sales were marked at 7.4 million units.
