Microsoft introduces cheapest Lumia phones for emerging markets

The Lumia 435 is Microsoft’s cheapest smartphone yet at $80

In an attempt to popularize the Windows Phones once again, Microsoft has been on the mission to introduce a number of cheap smartphones and it has just added Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 to the list of contenders. The two new phones have been targeted at the emerging markets where there is still enough room for cheaper phones. These markets also have a high percentage of mobile phone users who want to upgrade from their feature phones to smatphones, but in an affordable manner.

The sale of the phones begin next month in parts of Europe, Asia-Pacific, India, the Middle East and Africa and will cost €69 (US$80) and €79 respectively without a contract. Though the specs aren’t too amazing to be honest but for this price, the phones are good enough.

The Lumia 435 users will get an HSPA smartphone powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor with a 4-inch, 480×800-pixel screen. The camera setup includes a 2 MP rear camera and a 0.3 front shooter. The phone features 1 GB of RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB through micro SD.

There are obviously some upgraded and added advantages for those who buy the Lumia 532. The phone is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor and has a 5-megapixel camera. Both the phones will feature Windows Phone 8.1, Office apps Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote as well as Outlook for email. In addition to this, there are all kinds of apps and services which are considered necessary now such as Skype, Here maps and up to 30GB of included cloud storage on OneDrive.
