Windows users can now use their Kinect sensor for Xbox One with their PC thanks to an official adapter kit by Microsoft

Good news for Windows users who can now use their Kinect sensor for Xbox One with their PC after Microsoft launched the official adapter kit. This new adapter costs $49.99 which is going to make the Xbox One version of Kinect compatible with PCs and also the tablets. You can benefit from this compatibility as long as they’re running Windows 8 or later. To be interfaced using a USB 3.0 port, there are not a lot of functions that Windows can currently perform when paired up with Kinect using the adapter. But for the first time ever, Microsoft is going to give a chance to the developers to make third-party Kinect apps available on the Windows Store to help speed up things.

There is something even better. The tech giant has also released a special Kinect for Windows software development kit 2.0 which is available as a free download and is not going to charge any fee for the runtime licenses of commercial applications that /4/be developed using this SDK. Microsoft has claimed that this new SDK is coming along with some 200 odd improvements and updates. This is going to ease up the coding process for the developers for the feature rich apps.

At this moment there are a few apps which have been commercially made available on the Windows Store and they include Nayi Disha, which is an interactive education app for children, then there is YAKit, a 2D/3D character designing app and the 3D Builder which allows you to scan your surrounding for 3D rendering.
