Naomi Campbell Fails To Get Malala’s Name Right
To err is human. This is what happened to Naomi Campbell when acknowledging the milestones achieved by this year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner , Malala Yousafzai. It seemed Naomi wanted to be counted among the people who had appreciated Malala’s contribution to the society.
In her acknowledgement that was posted on Twitter, Naomi referred to Malala as Malaria. Unknown to Campbell, Malala is someone’s name while Malaria is a deadly disease that kills thousands of people across the globe. Since Naomi is a model, she enjoys a wide following on twitter and so you can imagine how many people saw the fault. She later apologized for the fault on twitter.
It is not only Malala’s name that was spelled wrongly but also the hashtag that she had used. The hashtag read #Ithalljuststarted instead of #Italljuststarted. it’s obvious that Campbell did not initially notice the error. Most people have attributed the fault to the auto correct feature of her smartphone. This is because we all know Campbell is a learned fellow. Naomi has since removed the tweet.
Malala is so far the youngest person to be crowned with the award. The young lady just turned 17 the other day. Malala is now in the league of former South African president, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Auung San Suu Kyi.
Malala is in deed a fighter who fights for what she believes. The young lady has faced many challenges including surviving from a bullet that was put in her head by Taliban fighters.
Naomi was earlier quoted by Pagesix saying that she was organizing charity fashion shows that would help in raising money for stopping the spread of Ebola.
The model said that she is jittery about the pandemic because she has interests in East Africa especially Kenya where she has put up a home. The star maintained that she wants to make sure the orphanages she supports in Kenya are safe from the virus. The shows are set to begin in February 2015.
