New 7.4 Earthquake hits Nepal

Breaking News. Nepal got hit by another massive earthquake, just two weeks after the big earthquake that killed over 8,000 people.



Reports hit the wire that Nepal has been hit by another big earthquake today. The epicenter of the 7.3 earthquake is near Kodari and close to Mount Everest according to USGS. The time of the quake hit was 7:05 UTC. The tallest mountain on earth has just recently been opened again for tourists, but according to a Reuters report the climbing season has been called off. Which is was the right decision considering the new earthquake.

The earthquake in April had a magnitude of 7.8 and killed 18 climbers. This new one is only slightly less powerful. As the new earthquake is close to Mt. Everest it might have triggered avalanches again.

There are no reports yet about damages of the /4/12 earthquake in Nepal. The photo above shows people on the streets of Kathmandu after the earthquake hit. They left buildings in panic when the earthquake hit near Kodari.

Updates:

Reports come in of victims of this new earthquake. Buildings collapsed in Chautara and landslides killed people in Shindhupalckowk according to Reuters.

The USGS reports about a strong aftershock. A magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit near Ramechhap at 7:36 UTC.

An earthquake with magnitude 7.8 occurred near Lamjung, Nepal on /5/25, 2015 that brought major destruction to the country and it is has killed over 8,000 people.
