The Void

A new company is making waves in Virtual Reality. The Void is planning to open Virtual Reality Theme Parks that will blow your geek mind.

The Void is promising virtual reality theme parks that have never before been done. The experience is almost like we know only from Sci-fi TV series or movies. The Void is like the HoloDeck the Star Trek crew has at its disposal on the Enterprise. The technology behind The Void is not as elegant as in Star Trek’s Holodeck. Players have to wear VR goggle, suit and gloves to enter rooms of the size of 60×60 feet.

The Void Suit

The Void is overlaying the physical room with a virtual world, best explained by the video below.

Besides the virtual graphics, the rooms will also have a fourth dimension with special effects like steam. This elaborate virtual reality system depends extremely on tracking the players accurately inside the rooms. If there are mistakes players could hurt themselves crashing into physical walls or falling over each other.

The first Void theme park is planned to open in 216 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. According to The Washington Post, The Void is founded by Ken Bretschneider, who invested $13 million of his own money into this project
