Nintendo Creators Program now available in beta

Creators are now entitled to a share of the ad revenue from Youtube videos

The very interesting Nintendo Creators Program is now available in beta form. The service is one of the first of its kinds from Nitendo where it is going to give part of the advertising proceeds from Youtube to its users. The proceeds include all those which will flow in from any Nintendo-related videos.

“In the past, advertising proceeds that could be received for videos that included Nintendo-copyrighted content (such as gameplay videos) went to Nintendo, according to YouTube rules,” a statement on the program’s website reads. “Now, through this service, Nintendo will send you a share of these advertising proceeds for any YouTube videos or channels containing Nintendo-copyrighted content that you register.”

Obviously there are certain requirements which have to be in place in order for this to effectively take place. For starters, the Nintendo content has to be the original gameplay footage captured by the user. There is also a bunch of details on which things need to be disclosed by each member either verbally or on the screen as captions. This is as follows; “I have a license to use Nintendo’s content in this video through the Nintendo Creators Program. This video is not sponsored or endorsed by Nintendo, but any advertising revenue from this video will be shared with Nintendo. “

This new ad revenue sharing program was announced in /4/last year and it had come after the company’s controversial decision in 2013 in which it announced that it would claim ad revenue on the user-created videos on Youtube which feature its games. The decision was also followed by a backlash from high profile Let’s Play creators such as Zack Scott.
