The new video card is going to power the VR Thief in the Shadows

NVIDIA’s Titan X was announced at today’s Epic Game’s GDC session, and with just one look, we could tell that this latest powerhouse graphics card is no less than a monster. NVIDIA’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang claims that the Titan X is the most powerful GPU in the world at the moment, featuring 8 billion transistors. This latest development does sound like quite a major enhancement as compared to the 7 billion figure embedded in the Titan Z last year.

The new GPU is based on NVIDIA’s famous Maxwell architecture and, just like its predecessor, it features 12 gigabytes of VRAM. The announcement today didn’t reveal a lot about the powerful Titan X but since NVIDIA’s own conference is coming up, we are expecting to hear more about it then. But the information revealed so far has been enough to encourage us to believe that this is going to be the video card of the year, and all will surely be running after it.

We are also confused as to why CEO Jen-Hsun Huang would announce a company’s major product at another company’s event,  but some reasons might have gone behind this decision. The Titan X is going to power the new VR experience known as the Thief in the Shadows, which is a combined project of Epic, Oculus and Weta Digital.
