The White House deleted a joke President Obama cracked at a fundraiser from the speech transcript.

President Obama’s trip to Chicago is now only talked about because the White House edited a transcript of speech. At a Democratic fundraiser Obama said that there are still some unpaid bills on his desk in his Chicago home that he left there when he moved to the White House in 2008. The joke is not even that funny, but Obama scored some laughter. According tothe weekly Standard, White House reporters did not find the joke in the distributed transcript. The White House censored Obama’s speech for some reason.

Update:
White House says that deletion of the joke was by mistake and not intentional.

Obama said originally during the speech: “One of the nice things about being home is actually that it’s a little bit like a time capsule. Because Michelle and I and the kids, we left so quickly that there’s still junk on my desk, including some unpaid bills. I think eventually they got paid–but they’re sort of stacked up. And messages, newspapers and all kinds of stuff.”

It might be related to Obama’s credit card incident last month. While out on a date night with Michelle Obama, his credit card got declined in a New York restaurant. The problem was that Obama is not using his card enough and there was suspicion of identity theft according to CBS. The White House might have decided that there is too much personal finance talk about Obama and that is why they cut the joke.

The result is though that now the joke is highlighted even more. If they just would have left it in nobody would likely talk about it now.
